I’m Rachel Surridge, a qualified Clinical Nutritionist and founder of Busy Families Nutrition.
I believe good nutrition advice needs to work outside the consultation room. It has to fit around real lives – busy schedules, different food preferences, health concerns, family needs and all the other things competing for our time and energy.
My approach combines evidence-based nutrition with practical, personalised support. I’ll help you understand what matters for your health, cut through conflicting nutrition information and focus on changes that are both meaningful and manageable.
Whether I’m working with an individual, a child, a couple or a whole family, my aim is for you to leave feeling clearer about what to do next – and confident that the plan can actually work in everyday life.

Do I need a referral to see you?
No. You don’t need a referral to book a consultation with me. You can book directly online at any time.
Can you help if I already have a diagnosed health condition?
Yes. Nutrition support can form part of the management of many health conditions. We’ll look at your individual circumstances, current medical care, medications and nutritional needs, and I’ll work within my professional scope of practice.
Where appropriate, I may also recommend involving your GP or another healthcare professional.
Do you work with children and teenagers?
Yes. I work with children and teenagers on a range of nutrition concerns, including nutritional adequacy, food variety, fussy or selective eating, growth and nutrition for active kids and young athletes.
The consultation will usually involve a parent or carer, with the approach adapted to your child’s age and circumstances.
Can you help if I’m not sure exactly what’s wrong with my diet?
Absolutely. You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly defined nutrition problem. Part of my role is to help you make sense of what’s happening, identify areas that may benefit from attention and work out sensible priorities.
Will I be given a strict meal plan?
Not necessarily. For many people, a rigid meal plan isn’t the most useful or sustainable approach.
Recommendations are tailored to your needs and may include changes to meals or snacks, food choices, eating patterns, practical strategies, recipes, resources or other nutrition recommendations depending on what we’re working on.
Can I claim my consultation through private health insurance?
Private health rebates may be available depending on your health fund and level of cover. Please check directly with your fund to confirm whether your consultation is eligible for a rebate.
